Newborn Sessions last between 3 to 4 hours and take place in my studio located in Edmonton. Babies are never rushed, with plenty of time to feed, cuddle, and pose baby without adding any stress to you or your little one.
Once your Newborn Photoshoot is complete, you’ll receive a folder of high-resolution digital files plus 10 professionally edited images.
Dinithi Fernando Photography also offers a fabulous range of keepsake albums – beautiful bound books where you can store your most treasured Newborn Photoshoot memories.

Scheduling Your 3 to 4 Hrs Newborn Photography Session
Newborn portraits are best captured in the first 4-14 days, while your baby is sleeping soundly and curling up into those adorable womb-like poses. For babies that are born early and spend time in the hospital, we recommend scheduling a session within the first week of being sent home. We encourage families to book their newborn photography session as early as possible to ensure availability. Also, We are more than happy to travel to your home to photograph these images.
Artistic Editing & Post-Processing Selected Images
Your newborn portrait session is only the beginning of creating these precious memories. All images taken during the session will be given to you in the high resolution digital format. After your session, we will spend an extensive amount of time curating and post-processing images to showcase in your gallery. We want you to treasure your final images. As you’ll see in our newborn gallery, these images are tastefully edited into a unique work of art.
Displaying Newborn Photography
Besides the high-resolution digital files & fine edited images, we offer a fabulous range of keepsake albums to store your most special memory. We also provide professional photo framing services. Newborn Photography FAQs
Ideally, before your little one arrives. Your due date holds your spot tentatively. Once your baby arrives, your session will be scheduled for when your baby is between 10 to 21 days old.
Contact me by email and I will personally respond to you within 1-2 business days (usually within 24-hours). Please visit my investment guide for pricing information. Session Fee and Session Agreement are required to confirm your booking.
Ideally, it is best to schedule your newborn photography session within the first 3 weeks of your baby’s birth. During this time, I am able to get most of those curly and sweet poses.
Babies 3-6 weeks old are welcome, but please come with an understanding that I may only be able to get a few awake or wrapped images.
If you missed the window of opportunity, don’t panic! I also do milestone sessions for babies 5 months and up. Better late than never!
Yes, sibling and family photos are included in our Full package – FREE of additional fees!

It depends on babies. We will never rush a photo session and are happy to spend as much time as we need. The average session time is about 3 to 4hours.
Here are our top tips on how to prepare for your Newborn Photography shoot:
- We recommend bringing a dummy so your baby stays happy, restful and relaxed.
- Give your baby a feed before the photo session so they are happy and full.
- Light colour outfits for parents and siblings would be preferred.
- We will provide everything we need for the Newborn Photography shoot, including props and wraps.

A receiving blanket, milk, and wipes. Everything we need for a successful session is at my studio. I provide all of the props such as wraps, bonnets/hats, props, accessories, etc. I also have a fully stocked diaper-changing station.
We love to discuss your vision for the Newborn Photography shoot and ensure we achieve the perfect pics on the day!
For home photo sessions, we will send you a link to our portfolio so you can choose the styles/themes you like. For studio photo sessions, you can choose the styles on the day.
We will take more than 50 photos during the photo session and will produce 15 best images from them after editing.
You will receive them in 7 days after the photo session – a super-fast turnaround!
All of your photos will be high-resolution digital copies without any watermark.

All you need to pay is the price of our package and a travel fee for home photo sessions.
